fun on a rainy day

It rained all day today, but that was okay by us. We stayed in our PJs all day and did lots and lots of fun things. We cleaned the bathrooms, vacuumed, washed clothes and Griffin taught me how to make eggs.

We then played with Potato Heads. Notice the outstanding accessorizing on Ms. Potato Head to the far right! 

Then Griffin thought maybe his vision was a little off.

Then we really got kooky! We vamped up the Statue of Liberty. Hey, she came from the French, shouldn't she bit a bit more chic (earrings, high heels and some bright red lipstick!)?! And we created the most over-accessorized pirate EVER. 

- eye patch? check.

- hat? check.

- parrot? check.

- peg leg? check

- hook hand? check

- swashbuckling sword? check.

- handlebar mustache? check. (okay, maybe not for a pirate!)

- gold earring? check.

growing up too quickly

It really is hard for me to believe how much Griffin had grown up in the past few months...he had so much fun at the park on Monday and was so friendly to a little girl. Or, was he flirting?

Thankfully, he still needs our help to do his favorite thing...hang!

and, he hasn't figured out how to pump yet so pushes are helpful!

But, with a face like this, he won't need us for long! 

Plus, he's kind to animals. He even shared his chips with a squirrel! Salt and vinegar...YUM!

Horsin' around

Last night was Western Night at Chic-Fil-A and they had horses! Despite Griffin's look of terror/disinterest/complacency, he really loved riding on "Jack." We were surprised that he did it; when we got in line we fully expected him to bail at the last minute. Shows what we know about our big boy!

No, he's not going to work in the cafeteria, he's sharing a helmet (we thought shower caps were a great idea!)...

Who's buying Griffin a horse for Christmas?

Of course, it was much to Griffin's delight that the horse took a HUGE poo (is there any other kind with horses?) while we were watching our friends ride. The evening was complete.

Ice Cream Festival

Today we took Griffin to the NC Music Academy's Ice Cream festival. While we didn't eat too much ice cream, Griffin did enjoy the over-priced rides...

Better than a cleaning lady...

Griffin loves to clean. I mean really, really loves it. He loves it like I love cookie dough. He doesn't play with toys (with a few exceptions, including his Dyson vacuum cleaner) and loves to have a spray bottle and rag. So, it was no surprise that he agreed when I asked him to clean his "bike." Do you think this love of cleaning will last through his teen years?

One of my favorite long-nap inducing techniques is to give Griffin a bath before his nap. So, we took a bath last Friday (well, we've taken a few since) and made a faux-hawk.
Griffin was excited to show off his submerge (what is the verb form) skills!
Once we were out of the tub (and dressed in PJs picked by Griffin), Griffin insisted that he use the hair dryer...all by himself. And yes, that's a PICK! Yep...a pick. (I do believe that he would have a Cub-rean (that's Cuban and Korean) afro if his hair grew out)
and, we all know that you turn your head over for extra volume.

Where've we been?

Well, I wish I had some cool reason for being less than blog-tastic, but the reason the blog hasn't been updated is because I get so frustrated! I cannot figure out how to mix text and photos and it just infuriates me. So, I start a post and then I quit when I get pissed. I think it's a "mac" thing because all my PC friends tell me it's so easy. It's either a "mac" thing or I'm just dumb (kindly keep your affirmations of the latter to yourself).

So, here's what we've been up to (drumroll please)...BIG BOY UNDIES!!!! Yep, we took the plunge and Griffin has been terrific. We haven't mastered #2 in the potty (okay, we haven't done that at all), but #1 is going really well. My child owns at least (no joke) 30 pairs of underwear. This is approximately 15 times as much underwear that I own. Is that TMI? So, here's Mr. Big Boy Undies himself...

A couple of my favorite "Griffin-isms"

Most of you know that Griffin gets speech therapy and was a late talker. Well, after our trip to NJ in June, his words just started taking off! We're really excited and he makes us laugh at least once daily (he also makes us want to pull our hair out, but...). Here are a couple of my recent faves...

On Saturday, Griffin and I were driving to see Aggie and Grandpa (my parents)...

G: "Knock Knock"

Me: (thinking he doesn't know what he's saying) "Who's there?"

G: "Aggie"

Me: "Aggie who?"

G: "Aggie-poo!" 

He proceeded to crack up laughing!

Tonight, I was pulling out some clothes for this fall and winter (that I bought last winter). Griffin saw a red vest he really liked and I told him he could wear it on our trip to Colorado. Well, he put the vest on and said, "Okay, Mommy, go to Colorado!"

9/24/08 Today I picked Griffin up at Co-op and told him that Grandpa was coming over for dinner. He said, "I'm so lucky!"

9/26/08 Griffin mentioned Colorado at least three times everyday! We are both so excited for our big trip! Whenever we ask where he's going he says, "To Ca-rado. I'm so lucky!" And whenever someone asks when, he says, "In two weeks!" (even on the morning of the trip!)

10/18/08 We went to the state fair where Griffin loved riding the Dragon (technically a Cobra). He rode twice with Danny and, after the second ride, he said, "Daddy, I go again...by MY SELF!" (and pointed at himself!)

10/19/08 This morning I was getting Griffin dressed and he put his underwear on his head. I said, "You're silly! Underwear doesn't go on your head, where does it go?" He responded, "On my penis!"
